(12/14/09)  During Holy Mass on Wednesday, December 9, The Catholic University of America (CUA) in Washington, D.C., commemorated the 30th anniversary of the death of the Servant of God Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen.  The Very Rev. David M. O’Connell, C.M., University president, was the principal celebrant and homilist at the Mass.  Archbishop Sheen, an alumnus, taught philosophy at CUA for 25 years.  By the time of his retirement, Archbishop Sheen had published 33 books and 34 volumes of radio broadcast talks.  He went on to achieve the status of national celebrity with his very popular television show “Life is Worth Living.”  Archbishop Sheen’s candidacy for sainthood is currently under consideration by the Vatican.  The Catholic University of America is featured for its strong Catholic identity in The Newman Guide to Choosing a Catholic College, a free online resource for Catholic families and students.  Source:  The Catholic University of America
