(1/12/10) The University of St. Thomas (UST) in Houston, Tex., announced recently the launch of the Pope John Paul II Forum for the Church in the Modern World. The mission of the Forum is to promote a broader and deeper understanding of the thought of Pope John Paul II and to facilitate its application to contemporary issues. The activities and resources of the Forum will focus upon the great work and vision of Pope John Paul II and make it accessible to the UST community and the nation. The Forum aims to provide opportunities for students, faculty, and the community at large to avail themselves of John Paul II’s expansive range of speeches and writings. The work of the Forum includes public lectures, workshops for faculty development, and conferences. Upcoming events sponsored by the Forum this semester will include visits by Archbishop Charles Chaput of Denver and Catholic author Stratford Caldecott. The University of St. Thomas is featured in The Newman Guide to Choosing a Catholic College, now a free online resource, for its strong Catholic identity. Source: University of St. Thomas
