(12/14/09) The University of Dallas (UD) in Irving, Tex., a Catholic institution, posted a news release on December 7 announcing the Board of Trustees’ selection of Thomas W. Keefe, J.D. as the University’s eighth president. An alumnus of Newman Guide-pick Benedictine College, Keefe comes to UD from St. Louis University, where he served as vice president of advancement since 2005. O.D. Cruse, Chairman of the UD Board, said, “Tom’s background and his enthusiastic endorsement of our Catholic identity, our values, vision and mission provide us with an exciting leader consistent with our recognized acclaim as a leader of liberal learning and a model of ethical practiced-based professional education.” Keefe said he was honored to be selected, noting, “The University has long been recognized as one of the best Catholic universities in the nation; known for its high academic standards and unique programs.” During his career, Keefe has also worked with the Catholic Aid Association Foundation and the University of St. Thomas’ Saint Paul Seminary School of Divinity. Keefe will assume the presidency on March 1, 2010.
