Dear Parents and Prospective Students:

As the flagship Catholic university in our nation, The Catholic University of America is the only higher education institution sponsored by the bishops of the United States, and the only one honored to have been visited by two popes (John Paul II and Benedict XVI).
Catholic University is located in Washington, D.C., one of the most interesting and important cities in the world. With a Metrorail system stop next to campus, our students can take advantage of the best of that world while living and studying on our large, beautiful campus.
Education at Catholic University embodies what Pope John Paul II meant when he wrote in Ex Corde Ecclesiae thata “Catholic university’s task is to promote dialogue between faith and reason, [to] bear harmonious witness to the unity of all truth.” Students at The Catholic University of America choose from more than 200 bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral programs. The faculty they learn from are scholars in their academic fields who are dedicated to the Catholic intellectual tradition. The life of the spirit is equally enriched through our vibrant Campus Ministry program.
Our students, faculty, and staff know that the word “Catholic” in the name Catholic University is not a vestige of our founding. It is integral to who we are.
Yours in Christ,
John H. Garvey, J.D.
President
